Technological Changes in Heavy Equipment

An in depth look at the latest changes taking place concerning technological advances in new heavy equipment. Equipment operating systems will be discussed including “Hot Shut Downs”, the need for the use and proper handling of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), and diesel engine Regeneration Systems (Regen). How to safely store, use and handle DEF will be discussed. The importance of these systems, with emphasis on safety and operating procedures, will be discussed as a part of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Equipment Operator and Equipment Service Technician Task Training Programs.

John Hoffman has an extensive background in mine safety operations, employee development, safety training, and heavy equipment operations and maintenance. He has developed and implemented safety policy and procedure programs and manuals in several major industries. Mr. Hoffman is a certified MSHA Instructor and a qualified OSHA Instructor. He conducts on site safety and operational training programs for heavy equipment Operators and equipment Service Technicians. He also conducts safety audits and accident investigations. He is also a qualified and approved Expert Witness regarding MSHA and OSHA regulations. He is a Certified Loss Control Representative for the Texas Department of Insurance and is a member of several industry safety organizations including the Holmes Safety Association. He is the General Manager of International Training Consultants based in Dallas, Texas.
