Leadership Strategies for a Culture of Safety

Mark Lipe is an Education and Training Specialist for MSHA Educational Field Services (EFS), assigned to the South Central District in Dallas, Texas. He has a B.A. in Management and M.A. in Organizational Behavior. Prior to joining MSHA he served 10 years as a business consultant for the Center for Business and Professional Development, Lincoln Land Community College, developing experiential learning programs. He also spent five years as corporate human resources manager for a Chicago based international manufacturing company and 12 years as an organizational development and performance management consultant for a Midwest consulting firm. As a Professor in the School of Business and Management, Robert Morris University, he taught courses in management, human resource management, business law, labor relations, human relations and organizational behavior. Mark served in the United States Army as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Specialist for 8 years. During his career he was assigned as an instructor in ground ordnance and improvised explosive devices at the U.S. Naval School, Explosive Ordnance Disposal. He also served with the Illinois Army National Guard and was deployed to the Gulf War with the First Infantry Division for Operation Desert Storm.
